Parallel Bars

Parallel Bars, or P-Bars, is an apparatus that is made up of four polls, with adjustable heights, the base to keep it stable, they vary depending on the producer, and the parallel bars themselves which are two long oval/egg shaped wooden bars.

The P-Bars are usually coated with chalk to help gymnasts not lose their grip. The only time when a par of P-Bars are not chalked should be when they have just been bought from the manufacturer.

In order to give you a little info I have composed an infographic to teach you…

I really enjoy parallel bars because of the skills themselves. My favorite skill is the back-up rise cut-catch; it is worth a B rank skill and is my favorite because of how straight forward the work to get the skill is. Another reason is because of the feeling of flinging your feet forward while floating in the air.

A back-up rise cut-catch is performed by swinging in the upper arm position and popping up to the above bar position while in the back of your swing. As you are doing that you fling your feet on the outside of the P-Bars from back to front, and because you have done this your arms are no longer grabbing the bar so you must recatch in the above bar position.
