Blog #1 Floor Exercise

Floor Exercise, or more commonly known as floor, is one of the six apparatuses in men’s gymnastics. It is one of the more famous apparatuses because it was the first to be introduced, in 1936.

I especially enjoy the front tumbling passes on floor. Front passes include flips in the forward direction, and anything. . .

Blog #2 Pommel Horse

Pommel Horse, arguably the most difficult apparatus in gymnastic, is one of my favorite events because once you get in the swing of things, pommel horse is enjoyable.

When doing pommel horse, you first start out on mushroom. . .

Blog #3 Still Rings

Still Rings, my favorite apparatus, was introduced to the Olympics in 1896 and was won by Liu Yang. One of the main reasons rings are my favorite is because it is where I feel most comfortable. Another reason is that one of my favorite skills is the dislocate and it is performed on the rings. A dislocate is when you are in an inverted hang. . .

Blog #4 Parallel Bars

Parallel Bars, or P-Bars, is an apparatus that is made up of four polls, with adjustable heights, the base to keep it stable, they vary depending on the producer, and the parallel bars themselves which are two long oval/egg shaped wooden bars.

The P-Bars are usually coated with chalk to help gymnasts not lose their grip. The only time when a par of P-Bars are not chalked should be when they have just been bought from the manufacturer.

Blog #5 Vault

Vault, simple on the outside, complex when you delve deeper into it, as a seemingly basic apparatus, vault is actually one of the tougher pieces of equipment after you have reached higher levels.

The starting trick you compete on vault is a run to straight jump. A run to straight jump is a skill in which you run a certain distance and then leap, to the ground not onto the vault, while trying to stay as straight vertical as possible with your hands above your head.

Blog #6 High Bar

High Bar, or Horizontal Bar, is one of the toughest apparatuses in level seven, my level. The reason it is so tough is because, recently, there was a rule change for all the levels in USAG.

The biggest rule change was that the JD2 and JD1 were now combined and known as level seven, thereby “pushing” the old level seven and below down a level.

Blog #7 Simone Biles

Simone Biles, the world best female gymnast, was born 1997 in Columbus Ohio, and started her gymnastics career in 2003, at the age of six.

She competed at the U.S. classic gaining her first gold medal of this year, beating Riley McCusker by 1.2 points.

Blog #8 My Journey

My gymnastics journey started at CGA, Charlotte Gymnastics Academy. When I was at CGA, I enjoyed it a lot and thought of it as just some fun activity. I was always excited when we my mother was driving me to CGA, and I enjoyed being there the entire time except for the last few weeks. The only reason on why I didn’t like CGA in the last bit of time I was there, was because my coach, Coach Jonna, quit working for them.
